Story hours will be exploding with books, games, giveaways, crafts, and activities. We'd like to take a peek into some of the different sciences like physics, chemistry, biology, entomology, herbology, even the dubious science of grossology. Please Register for these programs.

On the library lawn

This popular program run by Amy Dunphy continues during the summer!! This is a Story-time and Play-time combination and is designed for infants up to 3 year olds, and their caregivers to spend time socializing, singing songs, and having fun with sensory activities, water table, a parachute, and more.

Toys are brought out for playtime, simple songs are shared, and friends are encouraged. This program will be held in the children's room in the event of rain.

Teens and tweens can participate in a special independent summer reading program. Read books, listen to books, read graphic novels, volunteer, spark your interest in stories of your own choosing and accrue points toward prizes. The Science of Magic with Jeff Boyer

July 14, 3:00-4:00
ages 5 and older

"The Amazing Mr. Snide" entertains and amazes us with classic magic illusions; objects change colors, light bulbs blaze to life, items and people are levitated, and things appear and disappear again before our very eyes. Is this magic? His alter ego "Dr. Heckle" says "No!" He performs these same feats using the tools of modern technology. Explaining laws of physics as he goes, the professor teaches his audiences the principles that make these astounding demonstrations possible. Kids learn about sound, light, solar power, electric and kinetic energies, with materials ranging from everyday objects like baseballs and breakfast cereal to radiometers and even a Van de Graaf generator!

Nature Nick's Animal Adventures

"Nature" Nick presents many rare and unique animals including: kangaroos, monkeys, lemurs, owls, falcons, kookaburras, snakes, alligators, and many more! Nature Nick's Animal Adventures is a USDA and fully insured company that is dedicated to wildlife education and science. The programs are entertaining yet highly educational. 90% of our animals are rescued from zoos or private individuals throughout the country. Our shows are comical, entertaining, and most importantly: educational!

Lego Movie


July 17, 3:30-5:00
all ages

Relax in the air-conditioned library and watch the exciting and entertaining Lego Movie. This movie has a PG rating. Popcorn and juice will be available for the full movie going experience.

Snapology: Lego Robotics

July 18, 5:30-6:30
ages 8 - 12

Do you think you can build the strongest and most agile robot? Can your robot win a head-to-head combat mission? Come learn basic strategies for building sturdy structures and then apply that knowledge to build a robot for friendly competition. Be prepared to have tons of fun! registration is limited to 15 participants. Registration is a must.

Entertaining Engineering

July 21, 3:00-4:00
ages 7 and up

During this program we will construct forts using spaghetti and marshmallows as our materials. We will also we will also engineer and construct catapults using popsicle sticks and rubber bands. The excitement begins when we launch mini marshmallows at each other's forts.

Mad Scientist Tea Party

July 24, 3:00 – 4:30
all ages

Mad scientist tea party! Even Mad scientists need to eat. Let's whip of some wild snacks. Watch a CrAzY play and party Mad Scientist style with crazy science activities.

Zombie Apocalypse Party

August 8, 5:00-7:00
ages 10 and up

Everyone will be dying to join our zombie apocalypse party. We will have games: like zombie tag, and pack your survival kit game. Expect food fit for a zombie like brains and "finger" food. As well as activities like make a zombie Barbie, and learn to apply zombie make-up. Zombie attire is encouraged.

Battle of the Books

July 11-August 29 (Friday afternoons) 4:00-5:30
grades 6-9

Battle of the Books participants are asked to read eight selected titles and then participate in trivia battles based on the books. The Battle is held September 6, 2013. We will give you the books, and you read them, and study the books, and participate in a final battle on against area libraries. For more information email julimuth@aol.com.
