Battle of the Books

The Stone Ridge Library is pleased to be taking part in the Mid-Hudson Library System’s 4th Annual Battle of the Books this September. This great book-based competition will be an exciting part of our summer reading program. We are inviting students going into grades 6-9 in the fall of 2008 to become members of our local Battle of the Books library team. This team will then represent our library and our community at the Regional Battle of the Books competition in the fall.

Battle of the Books is a nationally recognized literature contest in which young people answer trivia questions based on 10 specific books they have read. It encourages young people to get involved with great literature, work together as a team and then gather with other teens in the spirit of friendly competition to test their knowledge. Please consider joining our team if you enjoy reading, like a little friendly competition, and want to have fun.

For more information about this exciting program, contact the Julianna at 687-2044 or drop by the library.

The list of books we are reading for this years battle include:

TumbleBooks

TumbleBooks are animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they'll love. TumbleBooks are created by taking existing picture books (from children's book publishers such as Scholastic, Chronicle Books, Candlewick Press, Little Brown, Walker and Company and others) adding animation, sound, music and narration to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you. Have your Library card barcode ready. more
