T.A.G.

(TEEN ADVISORY GROUP)

Our Teen Advisory Group is under way. The teens have helped to plan children's events, create displays, participated in a float in the Memorial Day Parade, and some have gone on to battle other libraries during the Battle of the Books event. Teens and tweens interested in furthering their participation with the library can join together in this group. Future projects include Holiday Book Sale. If you have ideas about what the library can offer patrons young and older then we want your input too. T.A.G. is a group of teens, run by teens, for teens and the library. If you have some interest please contact Julianna at julimuth@aol.com or call.

Remember our Fall Book Sale!

Saturday, October 10th
10 am - 2 pm

Be sure to look at the collection of children’s picture books, chapter books, and young adult novels in hardcover and paperback available for purchase. All in good condition and all at very reasonable prices! Adult books will also be on sale, a bake sale and soups from local restaurants will also be available for purchase. (Bring your baked specialty to the Library either Friday or Saturday morning.)

The library’s Teen Advisory Group has been weeding and organizing donated children’s books preparing them for the book sale. The group will also be running the children and young adult book sale that day. A percentage of the books the group sells will go directly to the children’s room.

The Teen Advisory Group hopes to raise enough money to paint the shelves and purchase a couple of cool clocks for the children’s room spaces.

Please stop by. We all benefit!

Joe the Dog is BACK!!!!!!

R.E.A.D. with Joe!!!

For a couple of years now Joe, a friendly and well read black lab, and his owner/handler Carol, have been visiting our library to listen to children read.

They are part of the national R.E.A.D. (Reading Education Assistance Dogs) program is designed to help improve children*s reading and communication
skills by reading to a dog.

This is a wonderful opportunity to motivate children to practice their reading skills. Joe may not be able to read himself, but he is a great listener. Reading with Joe offers children a chance to read at their pace without the pressures of expectations. Joe just loves to be with the children.

Joe will be available to listen to stories Wednesdays from 3:00 - 4:30, October 14, November 18 & December 9. Children can stop by to read with Joe and Carol. If you are interested in signing up for this free program call the library at 687-2044 or stop in at the library.
