Joe the Dog is BACK!!!!!!
R.E.A.D. with Joe!!!

For a couple of years now Joe, a friendly and well read black lab, and his owner/handler Carol, have been visiting our library to listen to children read.

They are part of the national R.E.A.D. (Reading Education Assistance Dogs) program is designed to help improve children’s reading and communication skills by reading to a dog.

This is a wonderful opportunity to motivate children to practice their reading skills. Joe may not be able to read himself, but he is a great listener. Reading with Joe offers children a chance to read at their pace without the pressures of expectations. Joe just loves to be with the children.

Joe will be available to listen to stories Wednesdays from 3:30 - 5:00, February 18, March 18, April 1, 15,29, & May 6 & 20. Children can sign-up for 15 minutes of reading time with Joe and Carol. If you are interested in signing up for this free program call the library at 687-2044 or 687-7023.
